Do Students Hear What You Want Them to Hear?

Many teachers assume that if they say something to her class, the students hear what was said. Unfortunately, this is not always the case and can lead to misunderstandings, such as "… but he / she never said that to us!" Over the years I have heard many cases where a student says something that was on a test that was not taught and the teacher says that it is taught, but have not taken care of the students.

Teachers … here is a reason that a written lesson plan is to make yourAdvantage. In this type of litigation you can clearly demonstrate that an issue is in your lesson plan and that you did it to teach.

It is particularly important in the ESL classroom where the teacher is teaching in English. This is not the first language of pupils. Unless the students are advanced they will miss at least a portion of what you say. To learn ESL students, only for the stresses or hear important words in a sentence, they are trying to hear every word. Whathappens is that they will fall behind and often only hear the first part of what a teacher says.

Also, some people think they hear, what to expect to hear them, too. For example, I'm held in Thailand and often take the bus with the car. Head to the coaches expect to go all "foreigners" to Pattaya. I do not know. I live in a community called Rong Po. Most of the head to know me by now but sometimes I want to get a new one. If he / she asks where I am, he / she expects from me to say,"Pattaya. When I say Po Rong, he / she is not listening to them and so does not understand what I say. It's not what his or her brain told her / him, I'd say.

Students are no different. You can think about something and wait for what you say. In this case, in addition to the different languages, they can not hear what you have said, but what they "think" you said. There is a big difference.

The pupils are easily distracted – especially young learners andAdolescents. Your mind is on other things and fail to fulfill, so much attention to the teacher, as they should. This applies to all classes, not just for English class. Although hard to believe, I know your lesson, you can not come first in the minds of all of your students.

As a teacher, one can not assume that what you say registered automatically with your students. The only way to ensure that you always your message to everyone in the class is through repetition,Review and reinforcement. Even then, you may not reach all students but at least you have it your best shot.

After class, a topic that I usually give at least one exercise, which acts as a reinforcement activity, while the issue in the minds of students fresh (hopefully). Then, at the beginning of the next lesson, I will give a further exercise, though perhaps in a different format, where I review the previous topic and test the student's ability to remember and pass on their learning beforethe new theme for the day. We go over the answers together as a class, and that is when I ensure the information is firmly rooted. Then we go further.
